Our School

Foster's Mission

To educate and inspire individuals to become responsible, compassionate, creative literate/bi-literate citizens of the world.

Foster's Classrooms

Foster Elementary School serves traditional students as well as students wanting to become biliterate in English and Spanish. Students and parents may choose to enroll in a traditional classroom or a Dual Immersion classroom. All classrooms follow the district's guaranteed, viable curriculum and provide learning opportunities supported by research-based practices to address the learning needs of all students.

Dual Immersion at Foster Elementary

The Dual Language program at Foster provides a unique opportunity that brings together Spanish and English speaking students in an effort to develop full bilingualism in both groups. These students will have the opportunity to learn a second language without compromising their first language.

This program:

  • Develops children who will be more competitive in the global economy and more collaborative in our multicultural society
  • Takes advantage of the optimal window of learning a second language during the primary years
  • Supports families with a cultural, ethnic, or multilingual heritage
  • Produces critical thinkers and problem solvers who can use a communication-rich approach to succeed in the information age
  • Nurtures understanding and cooperation of the different cultures living side by side in Jefferson County
  • Gives students an edge in high school, college, and the workplace
  • Provides a full-day, free kindergarten
