Project Prepare, in operation for more than 15 years, is a Jefferson County Public Schools out-of-school time program currently serving K-6th grade students at Foster Elementary School in Arvada, Colorado.

Project Prepare serves approximately 250 Foster Elementary students per year. Programs include Before and After School Club every scheduled school day, as well as a wide variety of before and after school enrichment clubs such as PeaceJam Leadership Squad, Folklorico Dance, Mariachi de Foster, Basketball, Soccer, Empty Bowls Ceramic Club, Jump Rope Club, Discover Dance, Imagination Makers Traveling Improvisation, 4H STEM with CSU and others. Project Prepare also offers a three-week Summer Arts Camp, where students hone their skills in Theatre, Dance and Circus Arts workshops.

Project Prepare is proud to partner with many community organizations and artists including Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, the City of Arvada Healthy Places Initiative, Jill Lasky of Disccover Dance, Imagination Makers, Colorado State University Extension's 4H program and others.

Foster's Soccer club was started in 2009 by several passionate parents and has been a very important part of Project Prepare's after school program for many years. In 2015, Project Prepare and Jeffco Schools expanded Foster Elementary's thriving soccer club to create Southeast Arvada Youth Soccer League (SAYS), bringing soccer to five Arvada area Title I Elementary Schools. SAYS relied on strong partnerships with several organizations including the Colorado Health Foundation, Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club's Soccer for Success program, Arvada Soccer Association and APEX Parks and Recreation. In 2018, when the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club was no longer able to serve our Arvada area, the original founder of the Foster Soccer club, Germán Zárate-Bohórquez, started a new non-profit, Balón USA, to ensure the continuity of soccer opportunities for our local communities.  The goal of Balón USA is to provide high-quality, low-cost soccer programming for students in communities with few opportunities for joining organized sports. The program is developmental, and the focus is on learning new soccer skills while having fun with your classmates. For more information, please visit www.balonusa.org.

Project Prepare, in partnership with the community, helps to develop the full potential of our students by creating a safe and supportive environment, providing high quality and engaging enrichment activities, and promoting the health and well-being of each child.
